P90X (R) Day 4 - Yoga X

STRETCH!

You know, you'd think.. yoga shmoga. I hated it. I hate yoga. At the same time... MAN, did I feel the difference after the stretch. I was sweating, really sweating. Afterwards I could feel how different my muscles felt. Really it was great. So yes, Yoga X.  Do it. Bring it.

See you tomorrow,
Phillip

P90X(r) - Day 3 - Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X

WOW. I didn't think it was possible, but I went to light!

I enjoyed the workout and the variation in the exercises today, but I really under estimated what I could do. I guess Insanity had me better prepped than I thought for shoulders and arms :-)  Having said that, it was only my first time through and I wanted to make sure I was doing things properly and I didn't get injured.  Next week I'll be doing it while I'm in Vegas with a full gym at the Luxor.  Bet your bippie I'll be pushing the weight then ;-)

Keep pushing play!
Phillip

P90X Day 2 - Plyometrics

You'd think that a 2x grad of Insanity would be able to do this workout in a walk. If you did, you'd think wrong.  The pace is certainly slower (more like a rest week workout for pace) than your typical Insanity workout - but the different range of motion and complete focus on the legs (right, no getting down and doing level 1, 2 or 3 drills in this workout) had me perspiring like a swine with dead legs at the end.  I don't think this will ever be my favorite plyo workout, but it was a very necessary change because my chest and abs are still feeling it from Day 1's workout!

Till next time... KEEP PUSHING PLAY

Peace!

P90X - Day 1 - Chest and Back

Today I took my first step in the journey! Yes, I've finally switched from #Insanity to P90X. So far, I'm loving it. Of course tomorrow I'm doing Plyo... so yah, essentially insanity again ;-)

It was great getting out the weights and going at it. Good workout without the total craziness of Insanity. My muscles were still shaking at the end.

Push PLAY baby!

Pheeling the OW

Yesterday I enjoyed a non-Beachbody workout - ironically in the water ;-)

Insanity and P90X have been great (yes, I started P90X the other day) and I'm in great condition (though not as slim as I'd like yet).  Or that's what I thought... then I went and did some swimming at the community pool.

OW.  I never quite realized just how many muscles in your back you used when swimming. Today I feel every one of them.  In some ways, it's kind of funny. I actually mentioned to my friend Randy that the muscles I felt failing where my chest and shoulders - little did I realize that my lats were failing so badly as well!

Alas, I'm sore today but I'll be looking for some way to get out and either push play or maybe even get into that pool again.  Hope you're making the time on the long weekend to keep fit as well as enjoy the time with family and friends!

Cheers!
Phillip

Warming up = WAY better workouts

I know that we all hate to spend time warming up (though as we get older we have a tendency to look at the warmup as our workout!) because our time is so crunched to start with. BUT... we must!

When you warm up, you not only reduce the likelihood of injury, but you also ensure yourself of a better workout. Better workouts happen because your body isn't trying to fight through stiffness, soreness and achy-ness (is that a word?) So, when it's time to do that last squat, pushup, curl or walk that last 1/4 mile, push into a sprint at the end... your muscles don't rebel! (ok more than they already are).

Warming up allows your body to *explode* when you need it to, instead of starting a movement then BREAKING. And, when you can explode into your workouts then your workout will be WAY better.

So, that's the tip if you want to look phab and phit - warm up people!

To you phabulous health and phitness,
Phillip
